What Is The Difference Between UHF and VHF Frequency Bands??

What’s The Difference Between UHF Radios and VHF Radios?

When considering what type of two way radio to buy for your business, one of the most important factors to consider is whether you need a radio to operate on a UHF frequency or a VHF frequency. UHF frequency radios are designed to work in urban environments and indoors whereas VHF radios are designed for outdoors and rural environments. UHF, or Ultra High Frequency, operates in the  the 300-600 MHz range and VHF, or Very High Frequency operates in the 30-300 MHz range. Unfortunately, this means that radios operating on UHF frequencies can not talk or communicate with radios operating on VHF frequencies. Two way radios must operate on the same frequency to communicate with one another.
VHF radios are great for open field work and areas where it is unlikely to find obstructions such as buildings, thick walls of concrete, numerous floor levels, or even heavy forest. UHF radios on the other hand, are great for tall, multilevel buildings such as hotels,  and buildings with thick concrete walls. Whether you choose a UHF radio or a VHF radio, your business communication will become efficient, more reliable, and simpler with two way radio communication. Two way radios are great for aviation, restaurants, casinos, hotels, golf courses, construction crews, retail stores, schools, ski resorts, race teams, military, police, fire fighters, security teams and more!
