Many factors led to the South-Western City School (SWCS) District upgrading their  two way radio communication. The schools in Franklin County, Ohio were experiencing uneven coverage, problems communicating with all the schools because some were operating on UHF and some were operating on VHF, some campuses lacked radios all together, and they were coming up on the FCC narrowband deadline.
The sixth largest school district in Ohio, it was time for the SWCS District needed to overhaul their radio communication. Switching to digital radios and adding a repeater to the mix, this school district is unstoppable. They made the change just in time for an unexpected health hazard that sprung up and a Westland High School.  Since the new radio system was interoperable with the local police and fire department, no one was harmed, but it did reassure the school district that they made the right decision.
Word of warning, not every business needs digital radios. Make sure to speak to a reputable and authorized two way radio dealer who can answer all your questions and match a radio system to fulfill your needs.
